Doctor Who Watch-a-Thon 4×1

This is a weekly feature (Wednesdays) where Christa of Hooked on Books and myself will be watching and discussing all of the reboot of Doctor Who. Posts will contain spoilers for that episode and ones before it, so you may want to watch the episode before reading. I hope you’ll join us in enjoying this fantastic show, and don’t forget to check out Christa’s post (with past posts over here) as well! Allons-y!

Partners in Crime by Russell T Davies

The Doctor looks into a new weight loss company with suspiciously good results. Meanwhile, Donna has also caught the scent of something strange and looks into the company in hopes of finding the Doctor.

I love this episode. I really do. Donna doesn’t waste any time and is bamf from the very beginning. She manages to come to the same conclusions as the Doctor and is able to get to the same places he does without the aid of a sonic screwdriver or psychic paper. Well done Donna!

Meanwhile, RTD manages to do several things that I love at once: 1. he apologizes for the crap he puts Martha through by having the Doctor admit that it was his fault their relationship was so crap, 2. he admits that the baby genocide from The Runaway Bride was also crap and has character development for the Doctor via Martha, 3. he foreshadows not one, but two arc twists. Brava RTD!

And I totally forgot that Rose appears in this episode. My heart was not prepared, and I totally flailed around and screamed at my television ROSE JUST FOLLOW DONNA even though I knew she wouldn’t. AHHHHHHHHH WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!
