I was searching for a cover to talk about when this one caught my eye. This series is on my tbr list, but I don’t really know anything about it, which makes it the perfect choice for this feature.
To begin with the obvious, this looks like it has a Greek myth vibe. I get this from the title and the typography of the title…and also the quote by Cassandra Clare on the cover.
The pattern overlaying the title looks kind of like a maze, so I’m going to say that there is either a connection to the minotaur myth or else that the protagonist has a very twisted personal journal. Possibly, she’s a demi-goddess who is growing into her goddess powers.
The background is all forest-y, so I’m going to say that the story is set in North America. Also, it adds to the kind of “lost” feeling of the protagonist, who I assume is the girl on the cover. Gonna say she’s looking up because she’s looking to the heavens and her goddess heritage. Yet, her feet are firmly on the ground, so she doesn’t want to leave her mortal life behind.
Let’s see how I did!
So…there’s no summary of the book on goodreads…but the previous book Goddess Interupted’s summary is as follows:
“KATE WINTERS HAS WON IMMORTALITY.
BUT IF SHE WANTS A LIFE WITH HENRY IN THE UNDERWORLD, SHE’LL HAVE TO FIGHT FOR IT.
Becoming immortal wasn’t supposed to be the easy part. Though Kate is about to be crowned Queen of the Underworld, she’s as isolated as ever. And despite her growing love for Henry, ruler of the Underworld, he’s becoming ever more distant and secretive. Then, in the midst of Kate’s coronation, Henry is abducted by the only being powerful enough to kill him: the King of the Titans.
As the other gods prepare for a war that could end them all, it is up to Kate to save Henry from the depths of Tartarus. But in order to navigate the endless caverns of the Underworld, Kate must enlist the help of the one person who is the greatest threat to her future.
Henry’s first wife, Persephone.”
So…maybe I was accurate? Hard to tell.
