This is a weekly feature (Wednesdays) where Christa of Hooked on Books and myself will be watching and discussing all of the reboot of Doctor Who. Posts will contain spoilers for that episode and ones before it, so you may want to watch the episode before reading. I hope you’ll join us in enjoying this fantastic show, and don’t forget to check out Christa’s post (with past posts over here) as well! Allons-y!
(let’s just pretend I didn’t disappear again…okay?)
Planet of the Dead by Russell T Davies & Gareth Davies
Alone once more, the Doctor continues to do what the Doctor does best and searches out the unusual. And what is more unusual than a bus being transported through a portal to another world?
This episode doesn’t leave much of an impression on me. For me, it felt a lot like Midnight, except not as powerful. Everything just felt a little flat and too scripted, like the fact that Ten refuses to take on a new companion. I get that he’s hurt and lonely or whatever, but it still doesn’t feel like that is something he would do.
The best part of this episode by far is Malcolm because Malcolm is all of us.
I know, I know, I know…this post is super short. But go check out Christa’s and that will make up for it.
